I suppose I don't need to add "film" to the title anymore because if I'm traveling you can assume I'm shooting film.
Anyway... the husband planned a trip to Hawaii almost two years ago. I protested (a little) because it's smack dab in the middle of football season and busy, busy photography season. But, we went anyway, and he didn't have to take me kicking and screaming, that's for sure.
The Big Island seems to have a lot more visible lava than Maui (the only other Hawaiian island I've visited). The lava looked so much like dark top soil, but it wasn't. Ha!
Aside from beaches and the volcano and rainforests, we had fun discovering the best restaurants. We went to every town on the island and can confidently say Lava, Lava in Waikoloa, Splashers in Kona ($4.50 mimosas, people!!), Pineapples Restaurant in Hilo, and Kohala Burger are our faves! We went to Kohala Burger at least twice for their veggie burger. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
It was getting late one afternoon/evening and the husband insisted we see one more waterfall. I was kinda hangry (probably thinking about that veggie burger again), but he took us to Akaka Falls. Whoa. It was so impressive! And beautiful!
So long for now, Hawaii. I will be back!
